I thought it would be fun to share a creative way to make a bird feeder!
We love to feed our birds all year long. We have had a pair of Cardinals here for 20 years. When the snow is on the ground seeing those red birds against the white makes winter easier to accept!
Sunflower seeds are the most loved among many different species of birds. You want to have finch food in the spring, grape jelly or oranges for Orioles. Cracked corn for Doves who eat off the ground or on a flat feeder.
Be sure to have a water source. Birds love to bathe and drink everyday just like we do. Warm weather is coming and birds will be migrating. If you have water and food they will take time to fill up and stay, or get ready for the next flight.
I am sharing with you a picture I am going to try and make this spring. It will not only feed the birds when I put seed in the cups, it will look great in my flower bed. It is made from your old hanging baskets, pinecones, sticks and empty flower pots. If you need directions just let me know in the comments, I am always here to help.
